In the summer of 2012, I completed the Camino de Santiago, walking about 700 kilometers in one month. I did this with my husband. We’d just gotten back together after a six-month separation and near-divorce. Mistakes were made. Screaming matches happened. Blisters formed. And then other blisters formed on top them.

It was the hardest thing either of us has ever done — but it was also the best; we’re still together. The Camino saved our marriage. And it wasn’t all hardship: Between the screaming and the blisters, we held hands. There were heart-stopping sunrises, really good coffee, kind strangers, undulating wheat fields, and mysterious, holy encounters in shadowy cathedrals. Since our return, not a day has gone by that we don’t think about the Camino. We loved it so much, that, God willing, we’ll do it again in 2015. (Or not.)

I intend this site to be a resource for prospective pilgrims, as there is no advice like experience. Hopefully, it will also be a humorous and inspiring account of our Camino. Follow or subscribe to keep up. And, buen camino!
